Pronto Software, provider of next generation ERP, mobile and analytics software, today announced the promotion of two longstanding employees. Previously holding the role of General Manager in Victoria, Chad Gates has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Gary Semple takes the role of Development Manager, who prior to this held the position of Operations Manager –Core Research & Development.
With 20 years of experience in retail and technology, Mr Gates started at Pronto Software as Product Manager for Retail in 2005. He has since held positions as Research and Development Manager and General Manager, Victoria.
In his time with the company, Mr Gates has led the charge on restructuring the Development Centre into permanent agile project teams, enhancing the human resources program to provide greater opportunities for staff development, as well as establishing a new Development Group in Sri Lanka. He also played an integral role in launching Pronto’s fully integrated ERP and Business Intelligence solution in 2011, in collaboration with IBM Cognos.
In Mr Gates’ new role as COO, he is responsible for driving an agile business structure that supports future growth, optimising operational efficiency and delivering enhanced customer service.

We have grown significantly over the past few years, expanding both our product capabilities and branch network to better service our customers. Having worked across all facets of the business, from marketing to product development and branch management, I can appreciate both the customer-facing and operational sides of the business. I am excited to take on this challenge to drive cohesive and efficient operations across our business; and ultimately deliver greater value to our customers,” said Mr Gates.
Working at Pronto Software for the past 14 years, Gary Semple began as a software developer; and in his most recent role, Mr Semple was a key player in the continued developments of Pronto’s flagship product Pronto Xi.
In his new position, Mr Semple will manage the talented development team who build and maintain Pronto’s suite of applications, across Pronto’s research and development facilities in Australia and Sri Lanka.
“I’m excited to lead our research and development team, so we can continue to drive innovation in ERP, mobile and analytics. Our R&D teams delve into various areas, all driven by a unified aim of developing intuitive business management software that gets the right information to the right people, at the right time,” said Mr Semple.
